Accessibility Statement for CrumbTrail

Our Commitment

CrumbTrail is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our Progressive Web App (PWA).

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

CrumbTrail is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Because CrumbTrail is currently undergoing rapid development and iterative feature deployments, new interfaces and workflows are introduced frequently. While our core development frameworks are built to meet Level AA standards by default, temporary accessibility variances may occur as features evolve. We actively monitor our deployment pipelines and prioritize the resolution of any newly introduced barriers.

Accessibility Features

Our platform has been engineered to support the following native accessibility behaviors:

  • Keyboard Navigation: Full interactive support across the application using standard focus indicators
  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Built using semantic HTML5 landmarks and WAI-ARIA 1.2 attributes
  • Visual Standards: Support for browser zoom layouts up to 400% without horizontal text truncation or breaking layouts
  • Touch Optimization: Interactive components meet or exceed a touch target layout size of 44×44 CSS pixels
  • Motion Controls: Full support for prefers-reduced-motion media queries to eliminate vestibular triggers
  • Resilient Connectivity: Offline network status changes are explicitly announced to assistive technologies via live regions (aria-live)

Non-Accessible Content & Known Issues

We are actively working to resolve the following known limitations:

  • Third-Party Maps: Some embedded map components used for local directory searches may experience restricted keyboard focus loops or missing alt descriptions. This impacts WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard). We are exploring accessible alternative map configurations.

Technical Specifications

The accessibility of CrumbTrail relies on the following technologies to work with the specific combination of web browsers and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer or device:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript (ES2020+)
  • WAI-ARIA 1.2

Preparation and Assessment Approach

This statement was first prepared on 22 May 2026 and is reviewed continually alongside our active development cycles.

Rather than relying on static point-in-time audits, CrumbTrail utilizes a continuous evaluation approach, integrating automated accessibility scanning tools into our development workflows and conducting targeted manual keyboard and screen reader checks prior to major feature releases.
